The Best Running Music of 2022: Your Running Playlist

Being on this page means that you probably enjoy running and you enjoy music. Perhaps you want to lose some pounds, you want to get your cardio better or you simply want to run. (We’re not judging your intentions!)

Let’s get to the point: you need a playlist. You want that run to be less “boring” and hit some more dopamine receptors. To get started with a new habit, it’s important to have a sense of enjoyment in the activity.

Here’s a playlist to get you started. Whether you have Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer or Tidal, we’ve got you covered. Every time you run, you have Thrills’ signature playlist to come back to.

You’ll find this is undoubtedly the best running playlist with a high and consistent tempo, if that’s what you’re into.

The best songs for running

We’ve mixed science and our personal preference. As a record label, we have our personal favourite selection. But it’s good to know science is on our side too. According to Lam et al’s study in 2021 “The effect of self-selected music on endurance running capacity and performance in a mentally fatigued state”, runners that were mentally fatigued prior to the study, and listening to music during their exercise were outperforming non-listeners by a noticeable margin.

This means that if you’re stressed out, throwing on some tracks will help. It is important to note that runners in the study selected their own tracks. So, if you’re asking the question “what are the best songs to run to”—we’re not going to lie to you and say it’s the ones we’ve provided. But that’s certainly our taste…and if you like upbeat music, it would be wise to choose some tracks that you can keep a pace with.

Most of the tracks in our running playlists are between 120-130 beats per minute, so at least you won’t fall asleep during your jog.

Leave the running music curation to us

Many people make the mistake of thinking that music is just noise to be put on in the background. That couldn’t be further from the truth. There are plenty of people that have careers in this industry that ensure that it’s the exact opposite of that. Back in the day, radio curators were some of the most important people in society in ensuring that people started the day off happy before going to their 9-5’s.

Now, we have Spotify playlist curators from Spotify itself or independent labels such as ours that are tasked with this largely globalized task.

Switching your music frequently while you’re running is going to just be a distraction, so we’ll make sure to leave out any subpar tracks and put on only what we believe to be the best jogging music.

What we’ve included in this running playlist

We didn’t forget any of this year’s top tracks. We made sure to include:

Tiesto – The Motto

This one is sure to knock your socks off at the club. Or maybe you shouldn’t even be wearing socks if you’re listening to this song.

ACRAZE – Do It To It
Acraze’s top hit this year is so bouncy, you want to make sure you’re not hopping like a deer instead of jogging; it’s that infectious of a beat.
